Nom nom nom

No, I'm not dead. Nor did I forget about the blog. I just feel like sharing all the nice new things I've bought at once, and since not everything has arrived, I'll just put this little picture up. It's suprisingly easy to change to a red lit gauge cluster, all you have to do is scrape the blue film off the back of the gauges and replace the bulbs with LED's. One of them wasn't pushed in enough so it should actually look brighter, but I'm fairly happy with how it looks. One other little problem, my gauges aren't calibrated correctly right now. But I'll work on that. I went to a grip track day on Sunday and I know that I'll be doing more of it in the near future, considering my disdain for being caught by the police. The only other real update I have is that I've been removing as much extra weight from the car as possible. So far I've scraped off a ton of sound insulation and cut the rear seat support out. I've really been thinking lately that a shell would've been a nice way to start out because it feels like I'm piecing my car together in random segments but have yet to realize the bigger picture. Still, I'm glad that I have a vehicle that runs that I can use now. Because what is the love of motorsport if you never get to realize the awesomeness of the track.

211,000 Miles and Still Going...Kinda

I got one of our mechanics to drive the GT today to get a little input on how it is right now. Right now the list of things that came up as "broken" were:

1 transmission mount
2 motor mounts
Transmission bearing whine
Leaking rear main seal
Leaking front crank shaft
Leaking rear end
Fuel pump
Coil pack
Front brakes

but in the spirit of drifting, I'm going to waste all my money on the suspension first. Coilovers soon.

By the way, Seafoam is overrated. I've not got anything else to add really, since the drift day was cancelled thanks to rain.

Parts

So, to put a little insight into what I have in the car right now, I'll first say that my parents were not too happy about me sliding a car sideways. So my mods are based on safety first, which is fine.

As of now, the car has:
Sparco Pro 2000 seats
Sparco harnesses
6 point roll cage
Steeda short throw shifter
Weight reduction
FRPP Adjustable E-brake cable
16 inch Bulletts

Which is a fairly small list. Money, eh? But I'll list my parts as I can slowly afford them. For now, the car drifts, which is the most important thing.
